Reframing NCRPA

Reflection: For this project, we were asked to case study an existing SPTR organization, in my case I chose NCRPA. The goal of the assignment was to diagnose and analyze a problem the organization faces, with the “Four Frames” approach we learned in the readings from Bolman & Deal (2008; 2013). From there we were asked to develop a potential solution or set of solutions and present an organizational prognosis. This was one of my favorite projects during this whole program, as I really enjoy analyzing how things work and ways to make them better. Additionally, the assignment was timely, as NCRPA was entering year two of major organizational changes. The assignment allowed me to look at NCRPA through Bolman and Deal’s “Four Frames”, assess the organization's current status and identify what was working and not working as well as analyze the leadership and culture of NCRPA as an organization. This project helped me identify potential shortfalls in my leadership, as well as what could be challenges and barriers as NCRPA evolves. From the organizational analysis, I have already implemented some of the solutions I identified by looking at theories and strategies in all four of the frames highlighted by Bolman and Deal. Additionally, I am working to help the organization be prepared for our field and business model to evolve identifying the challenges and opportunities when I prospected NCRPA’s future in this assignment.
