Reflection: For this project, we were asked to create a Marketing Plan for a PRTSM organization/product/service that we worked closely with. This assignment required thinking about the program’s marketing plan in a holistic and logical sense, incorporating both the research-side of marking and the action-side of marketing. For this assignment, I created a comprehensive marketing plan for NCRPA’s 2017 Carolinas Joint Recreation and Park Conference. The marketing plan brought together all the elements of the “marketing tool belt” Dr. Casper taught during the semester. The plan included an internal and external situation analysis of the event, analysis of the product and positioning, as well as competitive and customer analysis. In addition, the project had us define marketing goals, create a marketing strategy and tactics, as well as plan out the implementation, control, and evaluation of the plan and strategy. Although NCRPA had a general marketing strategy, this plan helped me identify further avenues to market NCRPA’s conference as well as build in a variety of metrics and controls to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategy and tactics. With a background in marketing, this was a very enjoyable project. Additionally, I now have a comprehensive document to share with my team to help make this event.
